LAMPLIGHTERS
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Our class was established in the early 1960's.

Our class ranges in age from 35 to 70.
Presently we are studying 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians Ephesians in the “Genesis to Revelation” Series. This is a question and answer study, much like school, and of course sometimes we discuss other subjects rather than the lesson.

Our class members have several versions of the Bible and it's good to get different interpretation of the verses.

Our class maintains and sets-up the outdoor Nativity Scene in front of the Church usually on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We acquired this job when a class older than us decided it was time for a younger group to do this, probably about in 1965. In 1975 we built a new manager and purchased all new figures. The star was handcrafted by Glenn Mears, a member of our church (deceased) who was a retired ironworker.

Our class has done (and will do) the following Fund Raisers: Receptions for Weddings, Anniversaries, Graduations and Eagle Scouts. We have also sponsored Church Directories, Church Plates, Medicine Shows and “Current” products. We have a Semi-Annual Bake Sale in June and December for Christ Is Life Ministries in McAllen , Texas a Texas/Mexico ministry of Lynn and Rosemary Williams, originally from Mishawaka. Our first Bake Sale was in June 1993 and with the amazing generosity of our church family we have sent them a total of $4,966.25, we use a donation basis rather than pricing the items for sale.

Also our class pledges $25.00 per month for William's ministry plus another class couple adds $10.00 per month. We also send a Christmas monetary gift to Lynn and Rosemary. Over the years we have purchased for them a microwave oven, a vacuum cleaner and a sander. Another project we have for them is sending Medical supplies that a couple of nurses provide for us from their offices, Lynn has a clinic in Texas and also in Mexico and these items are badly needed.

Our class pledges each year four (4) Project 52's, in 2001 we were able to pay for five (5). We support a World Vision child each month and send a check for Heat for Homes. We have four(4) offering containers each Sunday, one for Sunday School offering, World Vision offering, Project 52 offering and William's ministry. The Heat for Homes offering, shipping charges for William's, Christmas Baskets for Jimtown schools and other expenses are paid from our class treasury.

Our class loves to talk and also eat, so we have coffee and goodies in Sunday School Class, we take turns providing these.
In 1995 we painted the ceiling and walls in our class room and each year we decorate our room for the season.

We have a cook out at Joan and Keith Cook's home in June or July and a Christmas carry in at the home of Homer and Faye Culp. During the year we either have a carry in at a member's home or we go to a restaurant . If we have a reception on Saturday we do as much of the preparation on Friday afternoon and go out to eat Friday evening. If we have a Sunday reception we have a carry in at the church at noon.
